RE: Plumbing Question

the sharkbite fittings although they dont claim to work on the old poly, they do. And you can just use a short piece of pex inbetween two sharkbite fittings to make the 7 inch gap

RE: water pump timer

well thats just it nyp, if the tank runs out of water, it will continue to pump, and the pressure will not build up, burning out the pump I am also looking at the forgetfulness aspect, i have stressed 2 dozen times that i want the pump off when the water is not used and i always find it left on. I understand if i just turned the switch on and i spring a leak it most likely wont catch it right away and the tank will empty but at least the pump will shut off and not burn out. And if it springs a leak after 10 minutes, then only the pressure in the line will dispense into the camper.
On the side note about taking a shower, The way i have set up the programming for the chip is, when you turn on the switch, it checks the state of the pump (on/off?). if it stays in that same state for 10 minutes it will auto shut off, but lets say 5 minutes after i turn the switch on, i go to take a shower, the chip will detect that the pump has come on, and will reset the timer for another 10 minutes. If the pump stays on 10 minutes continous it will turn it off. Hence, the timer will only reach the 10 minute cutoff, once the pump has stopped making on/off changes. This also allows me to reset the 10 minute timer just by shutting off the faucet for a few seconds and back on again. I know this will put a slight drain on the battery but the circuit will draw very minimal, and after the ten minutes it goes into a low power mode anyway.
As far as having water hookup, I do shut it off from the outside, my rig is setup so that i can use the city water hookup to directly fill the f/w tank by turning a knob in the kitchen, so we generally shut off the city water and run off the tank till its empty then refill etc. I just feel safer this way, after all the rot damage in the floor I just fixed.

water pump timer

Im going to try to build a circuit with a programmable chip to only allow 10 minutes activity of the fw pump. Im going to set it up so that the 10 minute counter keeps resetting everytime it detects that the fresh water pump has turned itself on and off. Once the pump is inactive, or active for more than 10 minutes it will auto shut down. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or has any input? I saw one post in search about it that gave alittle info but not much more on the forum.
Thanks

RE: Fresh Water Tank Safety

Here's a question for ya, when i went to redo my piping in my trailer, I believe I saw specs for plastic ( pex) piping stating maximum safe levels of chlorine. It was only a few ppm. So I'm wondering how safe it is to run it through the faucets and leave it there?

RE: Wifi Signal from house to rv?

I have the belkin Wireless G range Extender, It is also a repeater and supports WPA, I have it in the front window of my trailer, and it repeats the signal to anywhere within the trailer. They can kind of be a pain to setup but work nicely. I got confused at first setting it up and didnt realize it was going to act as its own little wireless access point, my main router is a Zyxel and shows up on the laptop as so, I decided to make the belkin's SSID ZyxelR (for Repeater) and then made the laptop connect automatically to those two.

Will this setup work for tv?

Hi guys i been reading and trying to understand how all the antenna/cable/sat stuff works. I have one cable input on my Travel trailer. I'm trying to setup a way where i can utilize the batwing antenna, the cable, and have it ready for future upgrade to sat tv also.
I attached a picture, can someone please tell me if this will work? I realize that only tv 1 will have the sat available to it, but that is all i need.
Here it is.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg195/paedbo/cable/cable.gif
The only other question I have is, do the high isolation a/b switches allow the dc to pass through for the lnb to work? Edit: the reason i ask is if this is possible then i could just run an a/b switch 1 side has the outside coaxial connector that i can either plug sat or cable into and it goes to the a/b switch then goes directly to a sat capable splitter for two tv's or i can hit the switch and go to antenna? Alittle more simple but not sure if it would work?
Thanks

RE: What is the best toy of gadjet you have or added to your MH

While rebuilding my camper i decided that to the left of the entry would be the 12v lighting switches. Then to the right of the entry door I wired up 110v motion sensing light switch and light for the front area of the trailer. It was a pain due to how thin the walls are So i had to use shallow mounting box's. I could not get all the wires and the motion sensor to all fit in one shallow box but the wires on the sensor were long enough so i could tandem two box's and use one for connections while the other just held the light switch.

outdoor receptacle foam rubber?

Ok so my TT's walls are gutted and I'm redoing the electrical. the 110v pretty much stayed the same except i moved the outlets around on the walls to better accomodate the layout, with one exception. I relocated the city water inlet. This left me with a hole in the aluminum siding. So I added an outdoor electrical outlet. My question is how good is the foam gaskets for sealing? Would it be more water tight if i used butyl tape and caulk in place of the gasket?
Thanks

RE: type of plumbing in tt?

Thanks guys , I will convert it to pex. But for now I will do all the open areas up front going to water heater etc and then adapt it to the quest. Then just before winter I'll start digging out the quest in the back of the trailer and have it fully converted.

RE: rotted trailer tear down pictures and ?'s

Ok so I havent posted in along time but here is my progress so far.
Couple of pics taken before batteries died.
(Son calls it the Great REBUILD lol)
The first pic you can see I put the kitchen counter back together on top of the new floorStill have to do the plumbing and we are cleaning up the stove for reinstall.
2nd pic just shows the new floor and some of the replacement cripple supports i put down the sidewall.
3rd pic shows the window framing almost completly done up front. ( You can see my gobs of gorilla glue on the left side, darn wood split its end while i was ripping it down the table saw. It needed a 11 1/2 degree bevel (23 degrees total for 2 pieces) The factory was nice enough to write it on the old piece for me so I didnt have to figure it out :-) But all is good.
Anyways back to the flooring. Originally we decided we were going to get marine grade plywood. With the prices and the availability, we decided to get ext grade plywood and CPES epoxy coat it. 3 pieces took almost 1 1/2 gallons ( It's $177 for 2 gallons) The rest we used on perimeter wood. Another reason I decided to do this is because the floor is vinyl tiles and I wanted the plywood to repel water penetration. The cpes works great for this i could spill water on the plywood and it just puddles until I wipe it. We patched all the floor joints and screws. I also read on this forum that someone suggested putting down a thin spread adhesive, even though the vinyl tiles were self stick i decided to do that and boy am i glad, it came out great.
Ok now after all that, here is a question, Anyone know where I can get new corner molding for the outside ( aluminum) on the trailer? When i took off the old ones they got pretty bent up, Though I think they are still usable I'd rather replace them with how scrungy looking they are.
Thanks

RE: type of plumbing in tt?

Thanks guys, yes it was built in 1986, is the quest bad? I dont see anything wrong with any of it , I just wanted to move the fresh water tank closer to the axles since it was right at the front of the trailer. Filling it did a number on tongue weight.
So now im a bit confused rumtan, the flair-it fittings wont work? Is that what you mean?

RE: type of plumbing in tt?

ok guys, yes it is grey with what looks like aluminum or steel crimped bands on it. it is very flexible i can almost bend the hose back on itself. I guess i would try a sharkbite fittings?
edit- sorry i just realized one of the steel braided lines for the water heater is also showing in the pic, Yes i mean the one that has the 90 elbow with the fittings.
